April 9th 2011

We spent our first real weekend of 2011 in the cabin and it is coming together beautifully. We are very thankful to Keone, Keith, Will, Colin and our neighbors who helped make it happen. It has been a year since construction began, but worth the wait. The kitchen counters and windows are in, and the finished exterior doors are coming soon. The snow is just starting to melt and mud season has begun... We spent last weekend trimming the windows and settling in, but work will continue for a month or two... The porch will be screened-in by the time the May flies come!

How to get there...

REFRIGERATION with Solar Power

The whole camp runs on SOLAR POWER (with a large battery system and propane generator back-up) that means no standard refrigerator. "Sunfrost" refrigerators use 1/5 the power--they have about 4 inches of insulation and run with no fans. See Sunfrost Refrigeratators at http://www.sunfrost.com/

This fridge is custom built by clever elves in Arcata, California... just ordered one today.
